First Trip to the Beach

Over fall break a few weeks ago, we headed to Destin for MUCH NEEDED R&R. Here are a few pics of the week. Needless to say, Landon LOVED the water and laughed everytime we took him near the ocean. Love having a waterbug in the family :) ahhhhhh - the beach - never ready to leave.......

Landon loved sitting with NeNe on the balcony

Cracking up at the waves

Like father like son - little foggy but love the same expressions :)

Had to capture this....."don't let me go daddy!!"

Summer's Top Ten

Looking at my last post I can't believe the time has flown. The greatest way I can think to sum up our summer is do a Top Ten list (chronological order) Many of you will just skip it and go to the pictures so maybe that will catch you up instead - a picture is worth 1000 words anyways right??
1.) may FLEW - michael and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary by going to the Melting Pot and spending the night out. Michael also graduated with his masters from Southern Seminary - WHOO HOO!!! no more school (for the both of us :))
2.) we took our youth to fall creek falls and I hiked 4 miles with my 8 week old son attached to me - he slept the WHOLE time! I guess he felt like he was on a treadmill in the womb :) he spent many hours there
3.) emily, michael's sister, and terry (her hubby) welcomed their first little one to the family - Mia Catherine. Mia and Landon are 8 weeks apart! i hear loud holidays in the future....
4.) michael went to camp for 10 days and I stayed back with Landon. Spent several nights with my mom, dad, grams, and granddaddy then went up to camp for a day. very restful but very weird since I have been at camp the last 7 years
5.) Dad smoked his usual ribs and chicken thighs for 4th of july.....yum......can taste them now
6.) We did some local mission stuff around town with our youth in july and then ended the week by going to Six Flags. Michael and I got to ride with Hall and John John on their first ever roller coaster that went upside down......i'll never forget how hard I was laughing as John John was singing "Indescribable" at the top of his lungs
7.) Michael and I were able to sneak away for a few days to a friend's lakehouse before school started. it was great to spend time together and with landon doing nothing - thank you!!
8.) School is in full gear and I am trying to find the definition of balance - working moms....any tips??? I do have my best friend's little girl in my class, Adeline, and that is for sure the highlight already of my year. Plus a little boy whom I LOVE that calls me "Missssss. Senkins!!!" Add that to the list right under "Mrs. Chickens"
9.) Landon got his two bottom teeth almost immediately after his 4 month birthday. I'm already praying he has his daddy's genes in the dental area....
10.) Life is so much more fun with a baby. The saying is so true.....a baby fills the space in your heart you never knew was there. Michael and I are loving every moment with our little guy.

Landon on his 4 mile hike with me - he LOVED it - my back felt like I was pregnant again!

3 weeks with the little one.....

It is hard to believe that 3 weeks have already flown by with our little guy. We were in the hospital a little longer than anticipated since Landon had to be in NICU for his lungs. The funny thing is, we didn't mind, we LOVED the hospital. Baptist was wonderful, the nurses were excellent, my doctor is just top notch and so personal, NICU was thrilled to be taking care of an almost 9lb baby, drugs were a great luxury, meals were brought to us by my family, we took all our "Everybody loves Raymond" and "The Office" dvds, I slept like I hadn't slept in 3 months, and in the OR when the nurses said "HE'S 8lb 11oz!!" I couldn't be more thankful for my c-section. As Michael said, I lifted everything that wasn't numb (my shoulders, neck, and head :)) off of the table and said "THANK YOU for my c-section!! Dr. Wise, I will dig the dirt out from your toenails!! THANK YOU!!" Needless to say, as perfect and wonderful as our experience was, we were more than happy to head home.

sweet hospital moments

The ride home

One week old picture - a rare moment with open eyes!

Gotta love the spit up in this one. I feel like I should turn it in to a milk ad. You have to love his fat face in this picture :) After our 2 week dr. visit - Landon is fattening up! He went from 8lb 4 when we left the hospital to 9lb 4!!

We have been blessed by so many of you that have brought us meals, called, stopped by, and simply helped us get ready for little Landon. It is times like this I am thankful for the quiet moments to stop and reflect on God's goodness and faithfulness in our lives. Michael and I were reminded of that even in the hospital as we went down to NICU everyday, life is so precious....to see the work of God on a 1lb baby is indescribable. Every detail is there - only God could make something so perfect. What an honor it is to be able to raise a child and this is only the BEGINNING.....

thanks again to each of you, especially our family, that has helped us make this transition to parenthood so much greater and fun than we ever imagined!
